The

Challenge

Since 1920 Democrats controlled the Kentucky State House of Representatives. Even with the perception of momentum, Republicans lost 3 of 4 special elections with the majority on the line in the spring of 2016.

We were faced with helping build the foundation to build a game plan that would historically change control in Kentucky.

THE CANDIDATES

Red Maverick Media began working with Kentucky in 2015 on identifying the target seats, guiding where to recruit candidates from down to the precinct level and providing candidate training.

In the summer of 2016 Red Maverick Media worked with the party on research in over 30 districts, writing and conducting benchmark surveys and working directly with major races on digital, mail, radio and campaign strategy.

the result

Going into Election Day, the Kentucky House was the only law-making chamber in the southern United States still controlled by Democrats, who held a 53-47 majority. 17 Democrat incumbents lost their seat on election night and a super majority was created for Republicans now holding 64 seats.

This is the second consecutive state in Democrat control for nearly a century that Red Maverick Media helped flip in the last 2 cycles.
